Dr. Hirzallah serves as President and Managing Consultant of Healthcare Operational and Performance Excellence (HOPE). In this role, he partners with hospitals executives to achieve excellence in quality and patient safety through process redesign and innovation.
His healthcare journey started at Mayo Clinic (which is currently recognized as the best hospital in the USA), where he worked in differennt capacity, like Quality Improvement Advisor, Director of Business Applications and Director of Quality and Performance Excellence.
At the national level, he has served as the Co-Chair for the National Institutes of Health (NIH) - CTSA (Clinical & Translational Science Activities) Process Excellence Group (CPEG) for two years, supporting CTSA membership of 61+ Academic Medical Centers (AMCs).
Dr. Hirzallah has almost two decades of experience in Quality Improvement, Patient Safety, and Performance Excellence. His past experience also includes three years as a Professor of Quality and Operations Management at the University of Wisconsin, a Malcolm Baldrige Quality Award recipient.
Dr. Hirzallah is Mayo Clinic Quality Fellow, certified Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt, certified Patient Safety Officer, certified ADKAR Change Management Professional, and Malcolm Baldrige Quality Award Examiner. He earned his PhD degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering from the State University of New York. He was also awarded the Mayo Clinic Quality Pioneer Award, the Mayo Clinic Excellence Through Teamwork Award and the diplomate recognition by the Society of Health Systems (DSHS) for his contributions in the science and the practice of improving the healthcare system in the USA and beyond.
Dr. Hirzallah has delivered several keynote speeches at national and international levels. His speaking portfolio includes the National Institute of Health (NIH), Yale University, Harvard University, Lehigh University, the American Society for Quality (ASQ), the Institute of Industrial Engineers, the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), the Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP) Conference, and others.
